What is Pet MassageTM?

Pet MassageTM is the therapeutic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. Most dogs, like humans, enjoy massage when it is done with skilled hands and a good understanding of anatomy. Massage is no substitute for veterinary care.

Massage prevents injury, reduces recovery time, increases flexibility, reduces stiffness and improves attitude and performance. At Paws & Effect Pet MassageTM and Wellness, we offer the most complete, skills-oriented Pet MassageTM available for dogs and cats.   Don't wait for injury to get help. Your best protection is prevention!

Pet MassageTM, like good nutrition and exercise, is an important component of preventive health care for your dog.

Thank you for taking the time to view this website and having an interest in your pet’s wellness. Massage is as important for overall heath as veterinary care and proper nutrition. My passion in life is canine companion behavior and wellness. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns or questions you may have concerning your pet’s behavior, nutrition or the benefits of massage and acupressure. I also have training in canine transition assistance. Together we can give your pet the balanced life and dignity he/she deserves.

Pet MassageTM is NOT a replacement for proper veterinary treatment. Any injured or ill dog must be treated by a veterinarian prior to the initiation of a massage program.

§          Improvement in athletic performance

§          Reduction in stress and tension

Pet MassageTM is much more than petting a dog. It is the deliberate and focused manual manipulation of muscles and joints to improve their condition and function.

Due to decades of breeding, most dogs are born with structural imbalances, both purebred and mixed breed dogs. Structural imbalances can hinder a dog’s natural movement, causing muscle strain and discomfort from normal activities such as walking and running. These problems will compound over the years and result in middle-aged to older dogs that have trouble performing normal activities, like running around the park.

Dogs often strain muscles but unlike people, may hide their symptoms until they become extreme. Their survival instincts tell them to “hide their pain” in order not to appear weak to the rest of the “pack”. Also, dogs can become so enthusiastic about what they are doing or so anxious to please their owners that they keep performing even though injured.

Professional Pet MassageTM can improve the function of the dog’s muscles, thus minimizing the negative impact of structural imbalances over time and reducing vet bills later in life.

 Types of massages offered

Anxiety- helpful for separation anxiety and nervousness.  Balance is brought to the nervous system reducing emotional and physical stress.

Arthritic / Geriatric – is beneficial for dogs in their “golden years”, provides relief from arthritis and rheumatism.  Highly effective in reducing pain and muscle tension, increases muscle tone, circulation, flexibility and slows the degenerative process.

Puppy- aids in physical and social development.  Builds confidence and self-awareness.  Releases tension decreasing hyperactivity, tendency to bark and chewing.

Sports- specifically tailored for athletes, stretching and invigorating neuromuscular work which helps prevents injuries, reduces soreness and improves performance allowing all breeds to reach their maximum athletic potential.

Wellness- to achieve complete balance, flexibility, improved immune system and optimal health.  Enhances oxygen flow in the blood, rids muscles of toxins, flushes body tissues and lymph nodes of lactic and uric acid, and other metabolic wastes.   Attention is focused on fascia, connective tissue, muscles and all body systems.

Canine massage ensures there are no misalignments in any one area of the body which can put tension on adjacent areas, even areas far from the site of misalignment, creating imbalance and stress on healthy tissues and organs.  The objective is a whole-body approach, to help achieve postural changes and optimal body alignment for complete balance and health.
